The site

HotLaptop started as a short guide on keeping laptops cool. It grew into a notebook on everyday PC and laptop use: viruses and trojans, speeding up tired machines, choosing software, consumer databases, and the surveillance state.

The old public site ran on WordPress 4.3 and the Newswire theme — complete with Google+ buttons and a jQuery Cycle2 slider. This redesign keeps the same pages and voice in plain HTML5, CSS, and a little JavaScript.

In 2007 his ISP, BT, tested a new advertising platform in secret and mistakenly included him in the trial. He uncovered it. The episode appeared on Channel 4 News and in the local press, and is told here in BT, Phorm, and Me.
