The Fragrance Shop in the Sovereign Centre, Weston-super-Mare, put up two large advertising panels. The panels were not just posters. They came with cameras.

In-store screens that watch who is standing in front of them raise a simple question: who is collecting the faces, how long are they kept, and did anyone ask? Shops are not exempt from data protection because the hardware arrived in a marketing bundle.
